Constitution
This

CONSTITUTION:
Washington University in St. Louis Fantasy
and Science Fiction Club
I.
Purpose.
The
purpose of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Club
shall be to provide the
Washington University community with an opportunity
for science fiction and
fantasy enthusiasts to get together and discuss
science fiction and fantasy
literature and culture and to educate Washington
University's students and faculty
about science fiction and fantasy
literature.
II.
Membership
A.
The Science Fiction and Fantasy Club is open to
all, providing that at least one-half
of its members are full-time undergraduate students
of Washington University.
B.
Membership is acquired by attending a meeting, and
may be maintained through
regular attendance.
C.
No dues will be charged.
III.
Officers
A.
Officers shall be elected by members who have
attended at least two meetings prior to
the one at which the election is to take place.
Elections shall be held at the end of each
fall semester. A plurality is required to be
elected to office.
B.
Officers shall include:
1.
President, whose duties shall include
a. Presiding over the meetings
b. Organizing the club agenda
c. Being responsible for equipment
2.
Vice President, whose duties shall include:
a. Acting as President Pro-Tem
b. Acting as link to Student Union
c. Arranging for meeting space
d. Attending Student Group Council
meetings
3.
Treasurer, whose duties shall include:
a. Handling financial matter of the club
b. Attending Student Union Student Group Treasurer
Orientation
c. Maintaining contact with the Student Union
Treasurer
4.
Secretary, whose duties shall include:
a. Keeping minutes
b.
Checking the club's email account
c.
Maintaining the club's webpage
d.
Advertising
e.
Keeping club records
C.
Any member may request an impeachment vote.
Impeachment requires a two-thirds
majority vote by members who have attended at least
three meetings prior to the one
at which the vote is held.
IV.
The Constitution
A.
Any member may request a vote to amend the
constitution an amendment requires a
two-thirds majority vote by members who have
attended at least three meetings prior to the
one at which the vote is held.
B.
A current copy of the constitution must be
submitted to the Student Group Activities
Committee of Student Union at the beginning of each
semester.
C.
Any changes to the constitution must be submitted
to Student Union through SGAC with
the original and the changed version.
V.
The Fantasy and Science Fiction Club will not
explicitly or implicitly advocate acts of
cruelty
toward other individuals or groups, nor advocate
the violation of any individual's civil
rights.
