Many
people may wonder why I am taking a course
of action which seems so counterproductive
to me personally, after keeping a
relatively low profile in Spring 2006,
when I heard abour the termination of my
Lecturer's contract. Put simply, it is
entirely a point of honor, loyalty to
students, and solidarity with other
teaching faculty. "He may be doing
somebody else a favor, but he is not
helping himself" (a remark overheard in
Kayak's Coffee Shop in early Autumn 2006).
I am sure this is true.
I
was prepared to take my hat in my hand and
move to another local University, with two
good recommendations guaranteed, when I
thought the the process was, if not fair,
at least reasonable, perhaps a budgetary
matter. I no longer believe
this.
You
may wonder why I want my job back, under
the circumstances. Once again, it is a
point of honor, and loyalty to my
students.
