General Body Meeting of the WashU Fantasy and Science Fiction Club, 2/28/04

Business Meeting: 6:45-7:00pm

I. March 6 Meeting. Officially, Spring Break does not begin until March 8, but most students will be away next Saturday. Should we reschedule the next meeting of the Science Fiction Group?

II. Student Union Recognition. Who will volunteer to arrange an appointment with SGAC (Student Government Activities Council) to secure Student Union recognition and funding for our club? We now have a track record (a nice write-up in Student Life, a series of public events, and collaboration with other groups.

III. Constitution and elections. Do we need a formal division of labor at this time? If so, who wants to do what? Should our name be "Fantasy and Science Fiction Club" or "Science Fiction and Fantasy Club" (or can we use both names?)

IV. Website. We have a shorter URL on our fliers now (thanks to Craig). What should we do about a permanent website?

V. Reading Groups. Should we help to form new informal, private reading groups, to read and discuss various books? Last year at least one such group formed to read "The Lord of the Rings." Perhaps we should post a list of potential authors or topics of interest, and request that people contact the Club email address with the desired topic in the subject line.

VI. Chat Rooms. Should we start online discussion groups or chat rooms?

VII. Topics for the next Tolkien Group, Science Fiction Group, Fantasy Group, and Cinema Group meetings.

VIII. Pizza. What kind of pizza do you want? [Papa John's phone number: 314-367-7272]
